Self-Critiquing to the Nth Degree

Before the release of their debut album, Townies had one more treat for us. Their third and final single – “Rust” – is out now!

“Rust” is a really straightforward song that is far more focused on lyrics and melody than trying to do anything fancy musically, which is really refreshing. Lyrically, the band was really trying to reflect on their past relationships that included a lot of self-critique of why some have gone well and others not so much.

Ultimately, it leaves you in a place where you wonder if some small changes could have led to a different outcome in the end. This is a band favorite because there’s this sense of desperation in all the choruses, especially the repeating phrase at the end.
